During puberty and pregnancy the thyroxine hormone can get goofy. This main hormone secreted into the bloodstream by the thyroid gland stimulates the pituitary glad. Thyroxine plays a vital role in regulating the body’s metabolic rate, heart and digestive functions, muscle control, brain development and maintenance of bones. As women go through their years of pregnancy and puberty, thyroxine can be best regulated with diet and exercise.
